3 Prong Surface Depth Gauge
Canadian Playground
Advisory Inc. manufactures the 3 prong Depth
Gauge has been designed for use with multiple standards and multiple
surface types. The length of the device allows for the
determination of the depth while the person performing the test from
a standing prosition, The depth can be read in one of 3 ways.
The first two are on the metric and imperial analog scales mounted
on the plunger rod. The third is the digital guage that is
attached to the side of the plunger rod.
The Depth Gauge allows the penetration
rods to extend 150mm (6") to allow testing of multiple surfaces such
as;
-
poured-in-place playground
surfaces,
-
artificial turf with and or
without infill,
-
artificial turf with or without
underlayment
-
running track surfaces of
varying depths

Canadian
Playground Advisory Inc.,
provides support and training programs
as to how these devices are used in conjunction with the relevant
standards, including the measurement and reporting of the
performance requirements.
ASTM F1292 requires that the person performing the test
in the field to find the most adverse location and for all surfaces,
especially the unitary surface, thickness of the surface will have a
bearing on the performance of the surface and the Depth Gauge allows
the operator to narrow the test locations to the minimum of 3 and
save time, money and gain accuracy in their work.
ASTM F1292 requires that the person performing the test
in the field must determine and report the depth of the surface at
the location being tested. The Depth Gauge is the only device
that allows the operator to determine the depth of a synthetic
surface which is becoming predominant with the enforcement of the
DOJ 2010 ADA Standards.
ASTM F1936 for testing artificial turf fields requires
that the depth of the surface, including the turf pile, infill and
underlayment. The Depth Gauge is the only device that allows
the operator to determine the depth of the entire synthetic surface
and the large base ensures that the device does not depress the turf
giving and incorrect reading.
ASTM F1936 requires
consistent depth of surface and the assumption is that this depth
can be confirmed across the entire field. The 3 Prong Depth
Guage to quickly and easily depth testing across the entire field.
